YES, THERE’S A RIGHT AND WRONG WAY TO LIGHT AND MAINTAIN YOUR CANDLE. Follow these instructions to maximize your candle burning experience. Before lighting your candle the first time, make sure you have a few hours to sit back, relax and enjoy your candle. The most important burn is the first one, this is known as the memory burn. The memory burn is the burn that sets the boundaries and scent throw for every burn after that.

Step 1 – Trim that wick! Before each burn, trim your wick to 1/4″ inch. If your wick is too long, you will experience a black film on your jar. If your wick is too short, the melted wax will extinguish your flame.

Step 2 – Light your candle with a long reach lighter. Using a match or short lighter may result in a black film on your container.

Step 3 -Allow your candle to burn until the entire top of the candle is melted to each edge of the container. A good rule of thumb is that for every inch of the diameter, you need to burn the candle for an hour. For example, if the diameter of your candle is 3″, you will need to burn your candle for 3 hours.

Step 4 – Keep the wax pool clear of all debris including wax trimmings.

Step 5 – Make sure you only burn your candle on a stable, heat resistant surface away from drafts. Also, keep pets and children away from your lit candle.

Step 6 – It’s important not to burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time as it can weaken the glass container.

Step 7 – Never leave a burning candle unattended.
